Megan and Kris had the challenging task of opening a brewery in an area of Chilliwack that had until recently fallen on hard times, during a pandemic that provided nothing else but hard times for everyone in the hospitality industry.

The design brief was pretty simple - help establish Bricklayer, and the new look area of Five Points, as a home from home for the local community. Working alongside Studio Roslyn, we took inspiration from the old signage of stores, bars and cafes when the area was last thriving, to create a welcoming, timeless image from the brand.

This was further influenced by the backstory to the name ‘Bricklayer’ - which was gifted by a friend of the founders who thought their kids’ names sounded like that of Italian bricklayers. Through the colour palette and typefaces, we want to give the can designs a relaxed, continental feel that wouldn’t look out of place at any Italian piazza.
